A Witch's Story Project
This is an ongoing project started in Summer 2024, exploring the emotional turmoil women experienced during the witch trials in the 15th to the 18th Century.
Loosely based on the execution of Alice Sammuels and her family, a witch trial in Warboys, the area where I have grown up and live in. I am exploring the systemic prosecution of women over the centuries, the vilification of women who refused to be silenced by a misogynistic world and the eventual unravelling of their minds, spiralling into the evil they were accused of being.
Using self portraits to explore my research through my body and expressions, imagining myself as a woman accused of witch craft, yet to be determined if to be true.
